Fund Management

Its been a fantastic last year for Singapore Exchange. STI rose a whopping 27% and I perform a little bit better with around 35% gain (its difficult to see from the portfolio as profits are reinvested). Impressed by my own stellar performance and as there are some request from my friends to invest for them, the idea of starting a private equity fund came to my mind.

The purpose of me starting the fund is to gain the experienced of a fund manager. With larger sum of money and having to invest friends' money, I would be more vigilant and responsible in my trades. Ultimately, as I aspired to be in the financial industry, I wish to showcase my performance in the fund to investment firms in hope for a job opportunity.

I would be transparent with the portfolio of the funds via this blog so to give my clients assurance and to keep a record of my performance. I would draft out the contract for interested investors soon, and please contact me if you are interested. I aim to manage a 100k fund.

A review of my stocks

The property market is booming in Singapore, especially the private housing.

The surge in property prices led by property on Sentosa Cove & Good Class Bungalow (GCB) - bungalows that is more than 15000 square feet, and the effect spills over to Condominiums especially in the prime district in recent months.

Ho Bee have benefited from the property boom with 2 properties for sale in Sentosa Cove

Stand: I will hold on to the stock unless the fundamentals of the stock changes, such as the peaking of property boom.

With the local property market booming, this construction company which leases and sell cranes used in construction gains from it as well. It has been forecast that Singapore construction market will grow from S$1.1 billion to S$1.3 billion in the coming year. Besides being a leader in local crane rental industry, it is also a leader in the Australia construction industry. Recently, it also branches their operations to the Middle East which is also experiencing a boom in the property market.

Unrealised gain: 35.80%

View: Buy

Stand: I will hold on the stock even if the property boom peaks as it has sizable operations in other countries as well.
